Fitness Classes

We offer a variety of fitness classes every day, such as step, interval, body sculpting, and core training classes. Even though classes for Members are FREE, we still encourage everyone to sign up for classes so that we have accurate rosters.

Unless otherwise specified, Fitness classes are offered continuously throughout the year.

Power Step/Power Sculpt

Features choreography and step aerobics set to a heart pounding tempo that will keep you engaged the whole time. Power Sculpt focuses more on free weights, med balls, abs, and total body strengthening. A great way to finish up a workout.

Cross Training

ALL LEVELS This class is programmed to teach you the basics of physical exercise and provides you with the framework to achieve long-term health/fitness. A normal class starts with a warm-up, is followed by instruction on proper technique, includes strength-training & cardio, then finishes with stretching. There will be an emphasis on basic calisthenics, barbell movements, curcuit training & flexibility.

ACCELERATED In this class we meet more frequently and shift the modes of training to more technically complex movements. A normal class follows the same format as the All-Levels class from warm-up to cool down. There will be an emphasis on Olympic-style lifting, basic gymnastics, plyometrics, interval taining, and circuit training. It is recommended that brand new exercisers spend 3-4 months in All-Levels before attempting Accelerated class.

Body Sculpting

Learn different ways to work your muscles with bands, free weights, body resistance exercises and stability balls. The class may include super sets, dynamic sets and more, and also includes a warm-up, pre and post stretch, and cool-down.

Aerobic Training

This class combines cardiovascular movements and choreography using both floor and step. Bouts of harder and lesser intensity give you a great calorie burn.

Step Ahead

This is an energetic, motivating class to rev you up after a long day. This workout has simple step patterns that progress to more complicated patterns. Repetition is key to the easy-to-learn movements.

Muscle Time

This class focuses on joint flexibility, muscle strengthening, endurance and coordination, and includes a warm-up, stretch and cool down. This fun class encourages peer interaction and socialization.

Meets in the Gymnasium and/or Aerobics Room. 

 TBT – Total Body Training

This class will blend a variety of movements to give your entire body a good workout. Different levels for each exercise will be shown to allow all fitness levels to participate and get fit. The exercises will be performed in an interval format to really rev up your metabolism and provide a good cardio / strength workout. Many of the exercises will use your own body weight. To mix things up and keep it interesting and fun other tools will be used at times. Some tools will include dumbbells, resistance bands, and stability balls. There will be a warm – up and cool down in this class.

Functional Movement

This class will get you moving more effectively in your daily activities! This class is a blend of gentle, dynamic stretching and other exercises and movement to increase your energy level, improve flexibility and enhance your quality of life without all the sweat!

Aikido

Aikido is a Japanese martial art based in self defense with no emphasis on striking or kicking. A distinctive feature of Aikido is that it does not rely on strength or size, but rather on movement and redirection of force. Aikido place no emphasis on competition, but on centering of energy, body mechanics and development of muscle memory.

Tai Chi Chuan

Summer 2017 – Tai Chi will run through June 21. Come back in the fall!

Tai Chi is an intricate set of linked poses developed in China to enhance balance, fitness, and longevity. It is highly dynamic, yet relaxed movements appear simple, fluid, and soft. In reality, it’s quite challenging, when executed in the proper manner, constitutes a demanding workout involving the mind as much as the full body workout.

Cardio Dance

Certified ZUMBA instructor Angie Shonts teaches this fun and easy to follow dance class, combining high-energy and motivating Latin music with unique moves and combinations that make you feel like you are partying on!

Circuit 45

This class consists of cardio and strength intervals with an emphasis on abdominals. Class is 45 minutes with a warm up and a cool down. Designed for beginners and advanced levels of fitness, all exercises can be modified.

Pilates (Dennis Kimmage)

Pilates is a system of controlled exercises, done on a mat, that blend strength and flexibility training. While many of the exercises emphasize core strengthening, the goal of Pilates is overall fitness.

Vinyasa Yoga

A flow yoga that focuses primarily on breathing and sun salutation variations. It is on the more vigorous end of the yoga-spectrum and is a great practice for anyone looking for a physical or mental challenge.

Barre Class

A total body workout using the dance bars in the aerobics room. Strengthens, lengthens, and stretches the entire body to create a lean physique. Based on dance/pilates formats. All levels.
