We are excited to share with you some exciting updates that are coming soon to the Bath YMCA and Landing YMCA! You may have noticed the free member coffee and popcorn bars being installed at both of our facilities, and those are just the first of many new member benefits we are rolling out this summer and fall.
Landing Y Updates & Fitness Expansion
Beginning next week we will be closing our racquetball courts at the Landing Y and converting those spaces to better serve our growing and changing membership community.
One court will become a dedicated space for evidence-based health programs like Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson’s. The second court will be renovated and connected to expand our strength and fitness center – dramatically increasing the square footage and making room for additional improvements this fall. As of Monday, July 10 racquetball will no longer be available at the Landing YMCA.
Stay & Play Indoor Playground
We will still have one racquetball court available to use at the Bath Y, but have exciting plans for the second beginning July 31.

Our Stay & Play free member childcare program has become so popular that we are creating a large indoor playground to relocate Stay & Play for older children, as well as be available for our enrichment preschoolers and birthday parties.
The room will feature a 16-foot wide Cedarworks wooden playset and include multiple slides, climbing walls, playhouse, and tons of space for imaginative fun! Our anticipated opening is this September.
State of the Art Fitness Equipment Upgrades

Some very big changes are also on the way for our fitness and strength centers! As mentioned above, the Landing Y strength center will be undergoing an expansion that will begin July 24 and absorb the space currently occupied by an adjacent racquetball court.
Next, new fitness center floors will be installed at the Landing YMCA beginning August 14 and Bath Y beginning August 22. The new floors will be more durable and cushioned, while also absorbing impact and sound better.
These changes pave the way for what might be our most exciting announcement yet – brand new, state of the art fitness equipment is coming to both the Bath Y and Landing Y! We will be replacing all of our current equipment – including treadmills, bikes, weights, racks, and each of our machines – with the latest in fitness technology.
The new equipment will be simple to use while also boasting the high tech capability to connect to smart watches and phones – helping you track and customize your workout like never before! The machines will also be more ergonomic to use, with new lower impact options. At the same time, we will be dramatically increasing our circuit machines and upgrading our weights for members looking to utilize strength training.
Replacing our current, older equipment is an exciting step for our Y and we are thrilled to be able to serve our growing member base with the best in health and wellness technology. We anticipate installation to take place by the end of September and will be offering numerous options of free member orientations for both locations to help you get started.

Annual Shutdown
Our traditional Bath Y Annual Shutdown will take place August 26-September 4 this year, with the pools closing August 26-September 10. The Bath Y will reopen September 5, and our pools will reopen September 11. We take this shutdown time to clean, repair, and perform extensive maintenance throughout the building that helps us run as smoothly as possible during the rest of the year.
Due to the upgrades at both the Bath Y and Landing Y, there will be some parts of the building that may need to close a few days in advance prior to shutdown. We are still finalizing installation dates and will communicate them with you in advance.
As in past years, we anticipate that the Landing Y will stay open during the Bath Y shutdown and offer additional health and wellness classes to cater to all of our members.
We Want to Hear From You! New Member Survey
As we make these changes and look to serve our members in the best ways possible, we have created a new Member Survey to share with you. We would love your feedback on what programs, classes, and offerings you would like to see at the Bath Y and/or Landing Y.
