Giving Page Banner Update 2022

We're More Than a Gym. We're a Cause.

Every day the Y works to nurture kids and teens, keep active older adults connected, support healthy living and give back to the community. We’re able to do this thanks to generous donors like you.

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

Swim lessons, summer meals for kids, childcare for busy working families – for those who can’t afford these essentials, the Y makes it possible through your support of the Annual Campaign. Learn more.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

We're excited to be in the final phase of a multi-year effort to expand our capacity to offer quality, affordable early childhood education to our community. Our final phase is the construction of a brand new six-classroom Early Learning Center at our Bath YMCA campus. Learn more.

Donor Advised Funds

A Donor Advised Fund is a philanthropic giving tool similar to a charitable savings account that you can set up through a financial services firm or community foundation. Once you have funded your Donor Advised Fund, you can easily make charitable gifts to the Y and other qualified organizations through the account.

If you already have a Donor Advised Fund, you may make your grant to our Federal EIN #01-0211812, Bath Area Family YMCA. We appreciate when your name and address is included with the grant.

Different rules and minimums apply depending on where you set up your account. Contact your tax professional or financial advisor for more information.

Gifts of Stock

Gifting securities is a powerful way to support the Y community.

Transferring a gift of stock directly from your brokerage to the Y can be a tax efficient way to make a donation. Here are the steps you’ll need to take:

  • Contact the institution where your stocks are held and let them know you’d like to make a charitable gift to the Bath Area Family YMCA. If needed, our Federal EIN is 01-0211812.
  • Provide your institution with transfer instructions from Bath Savings Trust. - click here to download.
  • Instruct them to include ‘Bath Area Family YMCA’ and your name with the transfer.

Stock transfers aren’t always accompanied by donor information. Please contact Caroline Kurrus at the Y with details so that we may properly acknowledge your gift. The value of the gift is the mean of the high and low price on the date that the gift passes from the donor’s control.

  • Name of brokerage firm and contact information
  • Name or abbreviation of stock and number of shares (if known)
  • Approximate transfer date
  • Purpose of the gift (annual campaign, endowment, etc.)

Gifts of Mutual Funds or Government Securities

For gifts of other types of securities, such as mutual funds or government bonds, do not follow these instructions. Please contact the Bath Savings Trust Company at 207.443.6296.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions

Make your gift go further through a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your Individual Retirement Account.

If you are at least 70 ½ years of age, you are eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA. QCDs can count towards your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) if you are required to take one.

Your IRA administrator must transfer the funds directly to the Y or other eligible nonprofit. Charitable distributions are reported on Form 1099-R for the calendar year the distribution is made. Consult your financial advisor or read more about Qualified Charitable Distributions by clicking here.
