Veggie Van Wednesdays
Hello Veggie Van Families! Due to the upcoming holidays falling on Wednesdays, we will be altering the Veggie Van delivery schedule. We will not have the van running on December 25th or January 1st. On December 18th, an extra-large delivery will be made to accommodate the weeks off.
We are in need of clean, reusable plastic or canvas bags! The Veggie Van is sending out over 100 bags of groceries and produce each week. Unfortunately, paper bags cannot hold the weight of the groceries so plastic is a must!
Starting September 4th, the Bath YMCA Veggie Van will be back in Bath for its weekly grocery delivery. Free groceries and fresh produce are available for families with children. Due to increasing demand, interested families should come to the stop to pick up a registration form from Jeff Peavy for grocery pick-up the following week.
Greenhouse and Garden
Wondering what the building on the island is when you first drive into the parking lot at the Y? That is our greenhouse! Thank you to Full Plates Full Potential for funding the construction of the greenhouse, giving as the ability to grow food here at the Bath YMCA. Johnny's Seeds, Merrymeeting Gleaners, Coast of Maine, and Community Members all donated supplies to help us establish our garden and see produce flourish this summer!
We could not do this without our University of Maine Extension Master Gardener Volunteer, Amy! She has put in many hours planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting.
More information about the Master Gardener Program, here.
