The Bath Area Family YMCA is excited to announce plans to create a dynamic multi-purpose space designed to expand programming and activities for youth and families in the community. Renovation is set to begin the week of April 21, with an anticipated opening in early May.
This new space will serve as a dedicated after-school hub for youth, offering a place to study, socialize, create art, and engage in other enriching activities. Beyond youth programming, the space will provide opportunities for members of all ages, including STEM and arts education, chronic disease prevention and healthy living programs, and a welcoming place for community groups to host support meetings and informative talks.
The transformation of this space is made possible through generous support from MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital’s Community Health Improvement Fund, which supports programs to enhance and expand healthy activities for youth.
Research shows that increasing youth participation in activities can have a positive impact on both the physical and emotional well-being of middle school and high school students. Currently, the Bath YMCA averages over 300 visits a week by youth in the community.
“We’re committed to providing a caring, safe, and trusted place for youth in our community,” said Bath Area Family YMCA CEO Rob Gray. “This new space will help us provide more inclusive, impactful programming for all ages to meet the evolving needs of our community. We can’t wait to open the doors to this space in the coming month.”
