The Landing YMCA of Brunswick, a branch of the Bath Area Family YMCA, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its brand-new 14-foot indoor bouldering wall—an exciting addition designed to elevate fitness, fun, and community connection in the Midcoast.
The community is invited to celebrate at a Grand Opening Celebration on Friday, July 11 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM, featuring free food, bounce houses, outdoor games, and more. This family-friendly event is free and open to all.
Open to members and the public Monday through Saturday, the bouldering wall offers supervised climbing sessions and beginner classes for both teens and adults. The wall is designed for all skill levels and emphasizes safety, encouragement, and personal growth—hallmarks of the Y’s mission to support youth development and healthy living. The Y has hired Holly Seamans, an experienced climber and instructor, as Climbing Wall Coordinator. Seamans will lead orientations, classes, and offer guidance during designated climbing hours.
The new climbing space is made possible by the generous support of MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital’s Community Health Improvement Fund, which invests in initiatives that promote wellness and active lifestyles for youth. Climbing classes for youth ages 12–17 will be offered completely free of charge—removing barriers and helping local teens build confidence, stamina, and strength.
“We are beyond excited to bring this vibrant new space to life at the Landing Y,” said Catherine Johnson, Executive Director of the Landing YMCA. “Whether you’re a first-time climber or just looking to try something new, we invite everyone to come explore the wall and discover a whole new way to move.”
